About HILL COUNTRY
Rolling tea plantations, cascading waterfalls and hilltop villages make up Sri Lanka’s hill country, which climbs to some 2,500m in the central heartland Sri Lanka’s. With a cool climate and breath-taking landscapes, a visit to this region demonstrates the incredible diversity of this beautiful Island.
Nuwaraeliya is Sri Lanka’s highest town and was a favourite hill station during British colonial times. The town is still touted as ‘Little England’. Nuwaraeliya is an ideal base from which to explore the surrounding countryside, including walks to place like Mount Pidurutalagala, at 2,555m the island’s highest peak.
