About KANDY HOLIDAYS

Kandy, located in the rolling hill country and built around a beautiful lake, is a heritage city of Sri Lanka and regarded as one of the most sacred places for Buddhists. The Royal City of Kandy, at some 500m above sea level, is the hub of any visit to the hill country. The most important place of the sacred city is the famous Sri Dalada Maligawa or the Temple of the Holy Tooth Relic of the Lord Buddha.

When To Go

A great all year round destination to travel to, the climate is generally warm however there are two monsoon seasons, one in the southwest part during the summer which is the strongest of the monsoons and the other in the northeast during the winter. It’s generally dry throughout the country from March to mid April, and hot and humid in the Cultural Triangle and West coast with some cool sea breezes. Cyclones and heavy rain can sometimes occur from September to late November and the Hill Country tends to be cooler around Nuwara Eliya, Horton Plains and Bandarawela.
