This hotel has its own grounds on headland overlooking Bentota Beach.

Location:

The Taj is approx a 3½ hour transfer from the airport. It is close to the village of Bentota built on an elevated position with steps to the beach (may not be suitable for the less mobile).

Accommodation:

The hotel has 162 rooms. The Standard rooms are pleasantly furnished and have twin or double beds with air-con., TV, telephone, mini-bar, ceiling fan, with bathroom and balcony or terrace with partial sea view. Superior Sea View rooms are located on a higher floor with a direct sea view. Deluxe rooms are as standard rooms but larger and Suites with separate lounge area. Orchard Rooms are on the 6th floor with seaviews. The rooms have been redesigned with Asian Furniture. Rooms have Satellite TV, DVD Player, Mini-bar, Balcony, and tea and coffee making facilities. A concierge is available for clients. All Guest staying on the Orchid Floor will receive a complimentary 30 minute spa treatment during their stay, fruits and wine on their arrival and evening canapés.

Facilities:

Swimming pool with separate children's section and sun terrace plus pool side bar. Sports include tennis, fitness centre with sauna and massage (charges apply). There is regular evening entertainment, including a disco or live band. Water sports available at nearby lagoon, which offers windsurfing and river cruises (charges apply). A local rail track runs along the back of the hotel.
