Centrally located in Luxor, with views of the Nile. The Sofitel Old Winter Palace is on the banks of the Nile close to the Luxor Temples. The old hotel still retains its charm and character.

Located on the banks of the Nile in the centre of Luxor.

Accommodation:

The Hotel consists of 92 rooms, set in the old wing section. All rooms are air-conditioned with bath,safe deposit box, telephone, television and mini bar. Standard Rooms have garden views, whilst Old Wing Nile View Rooms overlook the Nile (supplement applies). Please note -only some rooms have balconies.

Facilities:

In the gardens lies the swimming pool with a restaurant and bar. The Old Wing has its own bar and restaurants and guests may use all the facilities in this and the new wing of the hotel. Casual wear is restricted to the Garden Pavilion, guests staying here may use the restaurant in the Old Winter Palace with prior booking. Jacket and tie are required in the 1886 Old Wing restaurant.

Facilites can not be guaranteed to be open at all times from time to time facilities may close for various reason such as due to maintenance or low occupancy, without notice.

Luxury Luxor

Located 420 miles south of Cairo are some of the most important sites in Egypt. Thebes was the capital city of the New Kingdom, whose glory still glows in world history, thousands of years after its decline.

Two tremendous temple complexes were established in honour of Ra of Heliopolis, who became the god Amun Ra at Thebes. With his consort, Mut and son Khonsu, he formed the Theban Triad for which the temples at Karnak and Luxor were established.

The vast precinct of the temples at Karnak, which took a thousand years to build, covers an area of 60 acres and contains 20 smaller temples. The Hypostyle Hall at Karnak is the largest single chamber of any temple in the world, covering an area of 4,983 sq m. Across the Nile lies the Necropolis of Thebes, burial ground of the New Kingdom Pharaohs, where over sixty tombs have been discovered, the most famous being that of Tutankhamun.
