Where To Dive With Mosaic
Egypt - The Red Sea
Considered to be the Mecca for Divers and once visited it is
hard to beat, with its outstanding water clarity, exotic range of colourful fish
and beautiful coral reefs. Its wide range of dive sites offers year round diving
for all levels. It is recommended for those who want to learn, recently qualified
and ardent divers alike. Destinations offered at the Red Sea are Hurghada, Sharm
El Sheikh, Dahab, Marsa Alam and a liveaboard.
Maldives
The Maldive Islands are considered to be one of the best dive
sites in the world, with their abundant marine and coral life in warm clear waters.
A variety of diving opportunities are available inside the reefs that surround the
island, in the channels between islands, and on the edge of the atolls facing the
ocean. Diving is good year round, however monsoon winds in November and December
and May and June can make the seas quite rough, though not undiveable. This, coupled
with the breathtaking beaches is an ideal diving location for divers of all levels.
Islands offered are Reethi Beach, Kuredu, Bandos, Helengeli and Lily Beach.
Northern Cyprus
This little known destination is considered to offer some of
the best diving in the Mediterranean, with high visibility and clear waters. There
is attractive and varied marine life, reefs and caves to explore. This provides
a wonderfully relaxed setting for divers to enjoy.
Sri Lanka
Sri Lanka offers an abundance of marine life and dive sites
to suit all experience levels. Diving is found off the south west coast based at
our hotel, Tropical Villas. Diving is a nice complement to exploring this exciting
destination, however it is only possible from November to April due to weather conditions.
LEARN TO DIVE COURSES
The majority of dive centres used by Mosaic offer internationally
recognised certification courses inc. PADI, BSAC, SSI, NAUI & CMAS. On completion,
your qualification will allow you to participate in most diving possibilities during
future holidays, with the need for only a little local training and guidance. The
most popular beginners course is the PADI Open Water, (PADI – Professional Association
of Diving Instructors) Different centres will be able to offer different dive opportunities,
but all work within the strict guidelines set down by the certification bodies for
your safety and enjoyment. You will find specific details for each resort.
PADI COURSES
Open Water Diver
This course is designed to produce a diver who is competent
in the use of scuba equipment both in confined and open water conditions. You will
undertake both academic and practical tuition. Once you have mastered the basics
in confined water, you will have the opportunity to dive in open water and experience
the freedom of this wonderful world at first hand. The maximum depth for the course
is 18 metres. The three stages of certification are as follows:
1. Academic Sessions - 5 sessions using course books and visual
aids learning about theory and safety procedures. (Course materials are usually
on loan. If you wish to retain them you may have to pay locally)
2. Confined Water Sessions - These consist of 5 sessions, usually
in a swimming pool, to learn practical skills in a safe environment. 3. Open Water
Dives - Four open water dives converting the theory and skills learned in confined
water conditions into real open water experience.
Referral Course Option
To start diving straight away upon arrival at your destination
you can take section 1 academic sessions and section 2 confined water session of
the PADI Open Water certification course in the UK. Details of PADI centres in the
UK can be supplied on request.
Which ever method you choose, all necessary diving equipment
will be provided for the course, however the hire or purchase of course & log books
plus certification fee may not be included, and must be paid locally. If you decide
to take the full PADI Open Water course in the resort please note that the courses
usually run for 4 to 5 days and may occupy 5 hours a day. We therefore recommend
this be taken during a two-week holiday, allowing it to fit in with the diving school
schedule, required flying time and weather conditions.
